Kubuswoningen:
Creating a distinctive zigzag roofline, the Kubuswoningen, or Cubehouses, in Rotterdam are the work of the late Dutch architect Piet Blom. He considered his design an abstract tree, with the entire village as the surrounding woods. The full program includes shops, small businesses, a school, and a playground at ground level, with residences in the cubehouses upstairs. The cubes contain three floors. The lowest, triangular floor contains a living room, kitchen and dining area, and a small study/hobby space. The middle floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The top room is pyramid-shaped with windows on all sides, and can be used a lounge space, playroom, or third bedroom.
